Dear Jeffrey’s Bay,

I miss you. I’m homesick, for you. But here I sit in the living room in my usual spot in Ecuador walking in deep trust that this is where the Lord has me and that’s ok. You taught me so much. You showed me God’s love in a depth I didn’t know was possible. You walked me into freedom that was sweet ever after. Your sunsets can make anyone speechless and your people radiate the image of God. Everything about you seems like a dream and yet it was real life. It’s the life that we get to live with Jesus. The crazy adventure that takes us to the other side of the world. The adventure of learning to surf and asking the Lord for perseverance. The adventure of having your heart taken by twenty nine Beats and Books kids knowing that goodbyes are coming and still choosing to love. The adventure of paying for laundry with Wendy and receiving her wisdom. Jeffrey’s Bay, you are an adventure that I would relive any day but that’s not possible and it’s ok. I cherish you and miss you deeply. In my longing for you, I realize that God gave me a good gift. Maybe a gift I’ll never see again, I don’t know. I hope to see you again but if I don’t, I rest in the knowledge that each season is from the Lord. Jeffrey’s Bay you are like no other, keep doing your thing and maybe we’ll meet again.
