This summer I have gotten the privilege to nanny for a family since the beginning of April. I get to take care of Elena, a ten-year-old, rising fifth-grade girl two days a week. Not only has this little girl become my sweetest friend and now feels like a sister to me but I also have developed a loving friendship with her mom, Soraya. This courageous mother-daughter duo tragically lost their dad and husband to a brain tumor just over a year ago.
As I have stepped into their home a few days a week, I have seen the Lord turn their weeping to laughter and their sorrow into rejoicing. Most days are filled with laughter, dancing, and the telling of many stories about the one they lost. And other days I can see so much strength in their eyes as they face the reality of his death. Soraya mentioned the other day, “Our lives are so short, and I know one day I will see Roger again. In the grand scheme of eternity, it is almost as if I will see him tomorrow.”
My heart grew a million sizes this summer as the Teeling family has become my family. I want to share their story because through them I see the hope of eternity in heaven where there will be no more pain and no more suffering and no more death.
How can you let go of the pains in your life to experience a greater joy that only comes through Jesus? I think we should all live a little more like the Teeling family and hope for Heaven where we will see those we love again and Jesus face to face in shining glory.
What a sweet story! Thanks so much for sharing it. I love how their story has touched your life.
This makes my heart so happy!
